The Fine Gael TD takes his position as Taoiseach for a second time
The new Taoiseach has been compared to Ebenezer Scrooge.
Leo Varadkar was elected to the top job for a second time yesterday - after an historic sitting of the Dáil.
During Varadkar's nomination speech Fine Gael TD Emer Higgins compared him to Santa Clause, citing his delivery record.

But People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy believes he has a more accurate comparison:
"The truth is that the Christmas figure that Varadkar most resembles is not Santa but Ebenezer Scrooge.
"Varadkar famously told the Irish Times, that Tiny Tim should get a job. It summed up the cold-hearted ideology of Fine Gael."
Meanwhile, the new Taoiseach has said he wants to see Ireland become energy independent.
The Government has spoken about trying to make Ireland a renewable energy superpower.
Leo Varadkar said housing and energy security are high on the agenda for the Government as it begins the second half of its term today.
