The Justice Minister says the issue of consent is also central to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Human Trafficking) Bill which she is publishing this morning.

Minister Helen McEntee says it has far-reaching implications to support victims.

'We will have new laws to strengthen the issue of consent, character references in court, the bill will introduce a new referral mechanism which will support the victims of human trafficking, the bill will deal with recommendations where there is sexual assault within the defence forces, so it is a wide reaching bill.'
