It's no secret that massive backlogs and long waiting lists continue to have a choke-hold on the Irish NCT system.
In fact, at the start of March, the Irish Times reported NCT waiting times were eight times higher than pre-pandemic.
50-thousand motorists are currently on two separate waiting lists for an NCT.
One - 'a high priority' listing, the other, for the obligatory road-worthiness test, a 'low' priority.
The Irish Mail on Sunday received the details under the freedom of information act.
On the 10th of March, over 50-thousand people were on the lists.
Of those, more than 40,000 were deemed a high-priority.
