If you're wondering why your favourite artist has not announced a tour date in Ireland, it might be because it's not profitable for them to come here.

Acts like Beyoncé, Pink and Coldplay have skipped Ireland on their tours because of high public liability insurance costs.

Peter Boland of the Alliance for Insurance Reform says insurance costs are higher here than in Northern Ireland, making it more profitable.

He says tours are becoming less profitable here because of the cost of insurance, which is discouraging artists to visit our country.

Early this year it was revealed some adventure centres are facing closure due to the cost of liability insurance.

Government reforms on re-balancing duty of care in legislation are in the works.

Peter Boland says it's the final piece of the jigsaw:

"It's introducing a new concept to Irish law which is the voluntary assumption of risk. So, if you go to an adventure centre and you engage in an adventure in that centre, then clearly it comes with risks and as an adult, in particular, or as the guardian of a child, you have to be aware of those risks."
