If you’re thinking of giving up the drink for January, you’re not alone it seems.
New research from Heineken Zero has shown a growing number of Irish adults are taking part in Dry January.
In particular, over half of the 18 to 24-year-old age group said they will be giving up alcohol for the month.
It comes as one in three people believe they reduced their drinking over 2021 due to the pandemic.
Pubs being closed for almost the first half of the year and the early closing times this Christmas likely played a factor.

According to Heineken Zero, 78% of people surveyed believe there is less stigma now attached to drinking less.
Over 70% think nights out without having alcohol are just as enjoyable as nights with it.
The research comes as many will be starting 2022 with a health kick, and giving up wine or beer is usually a part of that.
So if you’re thinking of doing Dry January - the best of luck!
