Ireland remains on Tier 2 in the latest Trafficking in Persons report.
An estimated 180 million euro is made from human trafficking in Ireland every year.
A charity which supports those affected is calling for more to be done to tackle the issue.
Ruhama is a charity which works with individuals impacted by prostitution and sex trafficking.
It says it engaged with a total of 147 victims of trafficking in 2022, 45 of whom were new referrals.
That's a 60 percent increase on new referrals in 2021.
Ireland remains on Tier 2 in the latest Trafficking in Persons report 2023 released from the US Department of State.
Ruhama says Ireland doesn't fully meet minimum standards but are making significant efforts to bring ourselves into compliance with those standards.
It adds victims and survivors are still inappropriately housed in Direct Provision centres which Ireland has been criticised for internationally.
It wants safe, secure, gender-specific accommodation prioritised as a matter of urgency.
