A status yellow rain warning is in place for every county in the country today.
It'll remain in place for the entire country until seven o'clock this evening.
In Donegal, a stand alone rain warning is valid from midday until midnight.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel says people should prepare for heavy showers.
'So what we're expecting to see is bands of heavy rain throughout the course of the day are expected top push up across the country, the rain will be heavy at times that will lead to localised flooding in some locations. Rainfall totals in places by the end of the day could be up around 35 or 40 millimetres, maybe a little be more in the south west, so there is the risk of a little bit if disruption on the roads.'
