The Chair of the Oireachtas Media Committee says it will examine whether to compel the former Director General of RTE to appear before the Committee.

Dee Forbes won't be part of the RTE delegation appearing before the Committee today, where it will discuss the report into Toy Show The Musical.

Ms Forbes has yet to take questions from either the Media Committee or the Public Accounts Committee to date, citing illness.

The Oireachtas media committee will question executives about exit packages for RTE management, and the financial disaster that was Toy Show the Musical.

Committee member Senator Malcolm Byrne says public confidence needs to be restored in RTE.

'I think there are a number of questions around the decision making process with Toy Show the musical, it doesn't seem to be the case at some level, at either executive or board level that people didn't start to ask a sufficient number of questions particularly when it looked like there were going to be a number of financial problems arising from the show.'
