It happened on the N61 at Ballybay in Kiltoom at around 9.30 this morning (January 7th).
Emergency services attended the scene and the man received medical treatment at the scene but was later pronounced dead.
His body has been taken to the mortuary at Roscommon Hospital for a post mortem.
The road has re-opened after being closed for forensic examinations.
Gardaí ask if anyone with information about the single vehicle collision would come forward.
They also ask drivers with dash cam footage and were travelling on the N61 at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
