A man in his 20s remains in custody this morning after a nine year old boy died in a crash in County Donegal.
The child was walking on Atlantic Way in Bundoran when he was knocked down shortly after 9.20 on Saturday night.
He has been named locally as Ronan Wilson from Kildress, Co Tyrone.
The car failed to remain at the scene of the crash.
Gardaí arrested a man last night.
He's being held at a garda station in County Donegal, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
Editor of Donegal Daily, Stephen Maguire, says Gardaí launched a search operation after the car drove off:
"Last night around- it was just actually before 6pm or so - a man was arrested.
Gardaí have not said where he was arrested but he's a man in his 20s and the car was impounded obviously for forensic examinations".
