Majority of voters are ready for a General Election.

Research shows the majority of Irish people believe that now is the right time for a General Election.

1,000 people where questioned for this poll, and overall 58% of the Irish public want a General Election now.

Meanwhile there is quite a gap in the opinions of older and younger people; 73% of those aged under 35 want to go the polls now, which is bad news for the new Taoiseach Simon Harris, who is hoping to attract younger voters.

Of those aged over 55; 60% do not want a General Election, while 40% do.

Meanwhile 60% of those living in the capital want a General Election immediately, while 57% of people in Munster want to go the polls now, while in Connaght/Ulster 52% want an election now.

The poll was carried out on Tuesday, on the same day a new Taoiseach was elected.
