The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance.
A Longford man has died in the US.
The man is believed to be in his early 20s and was discovered on a footpath in New York City, after spending the summer in Canada.
The Irish Mirror report that the young man was due to graduate in the coming months. A spokeswoman for the NYPD told the paper:
"We can not confirm the identity at this time until we ensure there was a proper family notification in regard."
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it's aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
