Dublin is filthy, but not as filthy as Dundalk, says new litter survey

Dublin is filthy, and it's official, according to the Irish Business Against Litter Survey.

The research released this morning shows over 90 percent of towns studied were clean compared to 28 percent of cities.

Maynooth in Kildare came out as the cleanest town in Ireland with Dundalk being the filthiest.

Waterford and Galway are the cleanest cities with Dublin City Centre and north inner city being the dirtiest.

Conor Horgan spokesperon with IBAL says the rankings are consistent:

"Maynooth topped our table, so it was the cleanest town. There's generally great consistency with the towns that are at the top of our rankings."

"That's also the case when we look to the bottom of our rankings. It's Dublin's north inner city, Cork north side, Dublin City Centre."

"A big disappointment was Dundalk, which was a past winner of our programme, it's now seriously littered and at the very foot of our table."
