A young boxer has died after a hit and run in Limerick City.
The incident happened at around twenty-to-five this morning, when 20-year-old Kevin Sheehy was hit by a jeep on Hyde Road.
The Olympic hopeful, who had won a number of national titles, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle believed to be involved in crash, a black Mitsubishi Shogun jeep, failed to remain at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or who may have dash cam footage, to contact them at Roxboro Road Garda Station.
