Woman dubbed ‘most beautiful poker player’ dies while drying hair

"Utterly heartbreaking.''

A famous Russian professional Poker player has been found dead in her apartment in Moscow. 

Liliya Novikova, who streamed her Poker matches under the name "liay5", was apparently electrocuted in her bath while using her hairdryer, according to Russian media reports.

An elderly neighbour found Ms Novikova's body in the bath, after her parents reportedly raised the alarm when they could not get in contact with her. All reports suggest her death was an accident.

Ms Novikova was well known on Twitch.tv, a live online gaming streaming platform. She had more than 15,000 followers on instagram.

Бтв, изолейт – это рейз, который вы делаете после одного или нескольких лимпов перед вами. И так, погнали: 1. Вы сможете забрать бабки до флопа. Многие лимпят супер слабые руки, но если получают рейз, то легко их выкидывают. Фолд эквити рулит! 2. Изолейт будет чаще всего в позиции, и поэтому на сухир бордах вы сможете забрать поты просто кбэтом. 3. Ну и частенько вы все же попадете в доску, и часто вам оплатят руки слабее, те вы заработаете больше денег, чем могли бы, если бы это был лимп пот. Какой размер должен быть у изолейта? Нууу... см 16..., это если линейку к монитору прикладывать ? Fellow poker players flooded social media with tributes Ms Novikova with Russia's Channel 5 reportedly calling her the country's "sexiest poker player". 

PokerStar Ambassador Lex Veldhuis said: "she had such a good influence on poker/twitch community through her hard work and efforts."

Team Pokerstars Pro player, Liv Boeree commented saying: "Utterly heartbreaking. She was such a sweet, beautiful and talented girl who worked so hard to promote the game. Rest in peace lady."

Ms Novikova earned an engineering degree from Moscow's Bauman University and besides poker she enjoyed rowing and snowboarding.

Her best ever live cash was $54,068, according to the online poker database.
