The mum killed her children because they ''got in the way'' of her love life.

A British mum who murdered her two young daughters because they "got in the way" of her love life has been jailed life with a minimum of at least 32 years.

Louise Porton, from Rugby, suffocated three year-old Lexi Draper in January last year.

The 23 year-old then killed Scarlett Vaughan, who was 17 months old, less than three weeks later.

Jurors were told that the mother-of-two did not seem distressed by Lexi's death and accepted 41 friend requests on the dating app Badoo a day later.

Porton killed her second daughter Scarlett less than three weeks later on Feb 1 and told a 111 call handler that her condition "did not seem urgent".

The toddler had died by the time paramedics arrived nine minutes later.

Porton, described as "calm and emotionless", denied all responsibility, telling police in a prepared statement: "I still don't know how my daughters died, or what caused it."

She was convicted of two counts of murder on Thursday following a five-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

Scary tribute.

In November last year — nine months after Scarlett’s death — Porton posted a chilling tribute to her daughters on Facebook, accompanied by two photographs.

“Mommy’s angels taken from me too soon. You will never be forgotten. RIP,” Porton wrote.

Speaking to the media after the verdict, Scarlett and Lexi’s father, Chris Draper, paid tribute to his little girls, saying the “only comfort” is that both girls are together.

Porton’s mother, Sharon, refused to attend her murder trial, saying she now “hates” her daughter for taking away her grandchildren.
