They didn't make it clear to followers that they were running paid posts.

Four online influencers have been sanctioned by the Advertising Standards Authority.

The industry watchdog found they did not clearly tell their followers that they were running paid posts. The advertising watchdog has been looking at complaints about some of Ireland's biggest names on Instagram and YouTube and its found they did not clearly indicate that certain posts were paid for.

Blogger Ellie Kelly who has 215,000 followers was found to have broken the code by not making it clear she was posting sponsored content while make up artist Katie Moran was also sanctioned for the same reason.

Dublin fitness model Gary Pineda was ordered to add a a disclaimer to a post for clothes brand Mibody Apparel and Instagram star Laura Young also got a slap on the wrist as she should have pointed out she was posting sponsored content for REN Skincare earlier in her video instead of at the very end.

A total of 27 complaints were made about advertisers in the last two months - 25 of which were upheld.
