An Irish celebrity has gone on trial accused of engaging in sexual acts with an underage girl he met at a music festival in 2010.

The man, who can't be named because of the nature of the charges, has pleaded not guilty to three charges of defilement

The complainant told the jury she was 16 years old when she met the man at the Oxygen Music Festival in 2010.

She said they kissed for a minute or two and kept in touch by phone afterwards.

After initially telling him she was 18, she said she came clean that summer and thought he’d block her, but she claimed he reached out a day or two later to ask if she could keep a secret.

She told the jury she said “yes” and they continued texting.

She claims she performed oral sex on him on three occasions.

The first time was allegedly in his workplace in Dublin city in late August 2010.

Afterwards, she said he’d often call her late at night to talk about it.

According to her, the next time was in his home maybe a month or two later and she claims it happened for a third time when she called over to collect some concert tickets on the 14th of December 2010.

The prosecutor told the jury it is a criminal offence to perform such sexual acts on a child under the age of 17.

The man denies all the charges.
