"Who’s Listening?" is a documentary series that shares the stories of the people whose jobs are to listen to our problems.
As these people support us through our worries, how do they handle their own? As part of "Who's Listening?", Fionnuala Corbett spoke to Pieta House workers, a school guidance counsellor, a GP, a priest, and a guidance counsellor and psychotherapist, to find out about the challenges and rewards of always being a listening ear.
In episode 5 we hear from Shirley Hanley, who is a guidance counsellor and psychotherapist. She says her job is to support people in dealing with their pain, which can be massively challenging, but she feels blessed to be able to do this work.
