3.1 million Covid-19 jabs given in Ireland so far

Micheál Martin is happy with the rollout so far

The Taoiseach says the European vaccine rollout should be seen as an enormous success.

Over 3.1 million jabs have been administered in Ireland so far.

The online portal for registration is expected to open for people in their 30s shortly.

Micheál Martin has said that the rollout across the bloc is going well.

"The European effort to develop, manufacture and distribute covid-19 vaccines should be seen as an enormous success."

He praised the scientists, manufacturers and health assistants involved in the rollout.

Meanwhile there have been 431 new Covid cases here.

There are 58 people in hospital with the virus, with 22 of those in ICU.

The Department of Health says the daily case numbers may change due to future data review and validation.
