For some it had also been the first time they got to go to a nightclub as they may have turned 18 in that time.
Despite a mostly positive night for the nightclub industry, there is some confusion over new guidelines.
The Government is now being accused of a 'shambolic approach' to the re-opening of the late night entertainment sector.
Last night it was announced that from next weekend late night venues would have to be ticketed, in advance.

The Licenced Vintners Association says the Government has failed to take their concerns into account.
They say there's been no differential made between a nightclub and late night bars.
Meanwhile, the Taoiseach has said the alternative to new restrictions on the late night entertainment industry was to pause the re-opening.
Speaking this morning Micheál Martin said the only way to allow the nightclub sector re-open safely was to introduce mandatory ticketing, from next weekend.
