If you have to give a gift to newlyweds any time soon, this is useful advice.
Most brides and grooms prefer to get cash gifts instead of a traditional present.
According to research by The Wedding and Honeymoon Show, nearly 90 per cent of newlyweds want to receive money for their big day.
And if The Lift listeners are anything to go by, couples never forget a less than generous gift!
Here are just some of the texts sent in by people who weren't impressed with what their guests donated:
"Got married 2 years ago, [a] good friend of 15 years and partner attended. Guess how much of a present got? Zero not even a card. Never mentioned about [it]. She is getting married next year. Eeeemmmmm."
"We had a whole table who gave us nothing and a couple of close friends who didn't even give us a card and one brother who didn't give us anything nof did he even congratulate us."
Here's a guest who was pretty sneaky about the whole thing:
"We received an anonymous envelope with just a piece of a cardboard box folded up inside, I assume so that the person could look like they were entering a card into the card box."
And you nearly have to admire this level of frugality!
"When I got married there was 20 Euro in the card with 6 names signed on it."
