At 8:30pm, many homes will join in and flick the lights off
The power will be turned off in many homes around the country tonight for Earth Hour.
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has asked people to get involved - by switching off their lights at 8:30pm.
It said the global event gives people a chance to think about energy use in their homes - and how to reduce their climate impact.
SEAI spokesperson Tom Halpin has said that working on the issue is a joint effort.
"It's a way for everyone to stand together and say climate action is vital, we need to make a change now," he said.
