It's reported that 7 allegations of sex offences were made against Gardai last year

The figures were obtained through Freedom of Information.

There were seven allegations of sex offences made against gardai last year.

While there were six about the misuse of drugs.

They were among nearly 2,200 complaints made to the Garda watchdog, GSOC, in 2021.

According to freedom of information figures, it's 234 more than the previous year.

Last year’s 2,200 complaints involved 3,719 allegations in total.

There were 50 in relation to criminal damage.

17 breaches of discipline were identified in last year's complaints.

From 2021 compliants, 341 related to Covid-19, that's up from 295 the previous year.

Some 35% of the allegations (just over 1,300) were in Dublin, with 346 in Cork, 212 in Louth, and 122 in Galway.
