Taekwondo Olympian Jack Woolley was attacked recently.

There's a call to boost Garda numbers in Dublin after an attack on an Olympian.

The Garda Commissioner and Justice Minister are being urged to take action.

Jack Woolley was part of Team Ireland in Toyko this year and was left covered in blood after an attack on the streets.

Jack, who competed in Taekwondo in Tokyo, posted photos on social media of himself after the incident.

He says he was crossing the street when he was ‘punched in the mouth.’

Fianna Fail TD John Lahart says the levels of policing in the capital needs to mirror other European cities.

And he says that Gardaí simply being visible would go a long way.

"Their visibility is hugely confidence-inspiring, and very off-putting to anybody who wants to engage in that kind of thuggish, criminal behaviour," TD Lahart said.
