A People Before Profit TD wants Irish workers to get the same number of public holidays as the rest of Europe.
Bríd Smith is calling for them to get 3 extra public holidays.
That'd bring the total number up to 12.
She says even beyond the issues around covid and the extra mile they went to, people deserve the 3 additional days anyway.
When speaking about when they'd possibly be in the year, she said February would be a good place to start.
Smith says because there are no public holidays between Christmas and St Patrick's Day, it'd be a good time.
"One of the days I think would be very helpful would be Lá le Bríde which is St Bridgets day, the 1st of February".
She says it is suitable as it "comes at the end of a long dark month".
Other days floated around were Thanksgiving, to which people weren't overly impressed with.
Why would Irish people celebrate thanksgiving? What? https://t.co/5zRp4txqoa

Can we put this idea of an Irish #Thanksgiving to bed & choose an appropriate day for you know... Ireland! My vote is for #stbrigidday
