The delivery company says it's seen a huge rise in demand for different deliveries in the last few weeks.
DPD Ireland has announced that it wants to hire 100 drivers, in addition to the 115 that it has hired in the past four weeks.
The delivery company says it has seen an 800 per cent rise in the number of deliveries of electrical items during the Covid-19 crisis.
Pet food delivery levels have gone up by 300 per cent and gym equipment deliveries have increased by 225 per cent.
DPD Ireland says these roles will be permanent and CEO Des Travers has outlined the criteria for applicants:
"A full clean driving licence, over 21 years of age, preferably with experience of driving a van. They will be driving a 3 and a half tonne vehicle, it's quite long, so it's more than just a car. But we will interview everybody and if they go to www.dpd.ie and fill in the careers [section] then we will get back to them fairly quickly."
DPD Ireland taking extra care
Mr. Travers also says the company is following the current guidelines and restrictions carefully.
"We're taking away the signature pad from the keypad and we completely fit out our operations to make sure that each driver has their own bay and can completely social distance in the depots. They then put all the parcels in the van, they go out, get to the doorstep, ring the doorbell, put the parcel on the step, step back and then key the name into the pad themselves. We have full social distancing and we have all practices now in place so that we don't jeopardise anyone when they're out delivering for DPD."
