Progress has been made but Covid tests may be delayed.

The HSE says it is making progress as it tries to rebuild its IT systems impacted by yesterday's cyber attack.

The ransomware attack is being described as possibly the most significant on the Irish State.

It resulted in the shutting down of all IT systems to protect against encryption.

If they aren't operating again by Monday, it could mean that thousands of appointments and procedures will be cancelled next week.

Covid-19 vaccination are continuing, but the referral system GPs use for a Covid-19 test has been impacted.

It means there are delays to the testing and tracing programme.

But, pre-arranged appointments are going ahead this weekend as planned.

The HSE says some progress was made overnight, but the rebuild will be a slow and methodical process.
