A member of Nphet says the numbers of Covid patients in hospital and ICU are less than half what they were 6 weeks ago.
Professor Philip Nolan says new admissions are low, with on average 7 new admissions to hospital per day.
It comes after 393 new cases of covid 19 were confirmed.
48 people are in hospital with the virus, down 10 on the same day last week.
While 14 Covid patients are in intensive care, down 8 over the same period.
The head of the Covid Vaccine Taskforce says the country is to get its biggest delivery of Pfizer jabs so far.
Prof. Brian MacCraith said that 600,000 doses will be delivered over the next two weeks.
He says the the vaccine programme will gain "very significant momentum", as younger people will begin to get their jabs.
And the wait time for the second dose of AstraZeneca will be reduced soon.
Meanwhile, Canada has been removed from the mandatory hotel quarantine list.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly's announced Mongolia will be added to the list, following advice from the Chief Medical Officer.
From 4am on Tuesday, passengers that arrive in Ireland from Mongolia must quarantine in a designated hotel.
