It comes as two more fatalities are reported.

Shortly before 10pm last night the emergency services were called to the M11 at Ballynabarney, County Wicklow.

A bus and a car had collided, and one man in his 30s - the driver of the car - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nobody else was injured, and a technical examination is underway this morning.

Separately, a man in his 30s died after a two car crash on the N60 near Breaffy, Co Mayo yesterday.

It happened just after half past five in the evening, and four other people were injured.

Again, a technical examination of the scene outside Castlebar is underway today.

It brings to seven the number of people who have died on the roads on this island since Sunday.

Three people lost their lives in a crash in Tyrone in the early hours of yesterday.

And a cyclist died after being struck by a car in Ballyfermot in Dublin - also yesterday.

One man died in a two car collision near Ferns in Wexford on St Stephens day.

The Road Safety Authority says it's extremely concerned following four deaths on the roads in the Republic over the past two days.

Brian Farrell from the RSA is urging people to be extra careful when driving or out on the roads.
