Results day was yesterday!
Over 61 thousand students nationwide received their leaving cert results yesterday.
The results hit a record high for the second year in a row.
The overall grade inflation is 2.6 percent ahead of last year's results.
While last year's results were 4.4 percent ahead of the 2019 exam results.
Central Applications Office (CAO) offers will be released next Tuesday, and points for courses are likely to increase this year following the record breaking results.
College students hoping for a CAO offer for the most in-demand courses could be faced with disappointment this week.
It's been revealed that applicants for medicine, dentistry, law or science may face a random selection process following a record breaking result year.
High achievers now have no guarantee that they'll gain entry into courses they have points for.
But students are being reminded that there are other routes available like conversion courses.
Here's the lowdown on the offers...
First round offers:
The CAO will release the first round of places in college, university or another educational institution.
The offers will be available on each students’ CAO application portal from 2pm and they'll also be issued by email and text, if the student has selected this option.
The window for accepting round one offers closes at 3pm on Monday 13 September.
Round two offers:
These will be made available online at 10am on Monday 20 September.
And the window for accepting offers in round two is much shorter than in round one, it'll close at 3pm on Wednesday 22 September.
Round three offers:
These will be available at 10am on Tuesday 28 September, until the window closes on Thursday 30 September.
Round four offers:
This round will be available online at 10am on Tuesday 5 October and the deadline for acceptance is 3pm on Thursday 7 October.
Round five offers:
Available at 10am on Tuesday 12 October with the window for acceptance closing at 3pm on Thursday 14 October.
And that marks the end of this season's CAO offers.
