It follows outrage after the food bank ran out of supplies quickly.
Aldi Ireland has donated €1,000 in gift vouchers to University College Cork (UCC) Students’ Union (SU) food bank in response to its national appeal.
It comes after the SU ran out of supplies just 50 minutes after opening.
UCC’s food bank ran out within 50 minutes of being opened this evening. Over 100 students attended, versus the 20 students per week that needed the service when it was first set up in 2019. https://t.co/S3KbERgavO

SU representatives attribute the high demand to rising rental prices, which has been leaving many students struggling to afford their weekly shop.
Aldi is giving shoppers the opportunity to donate towards UCC students struggling to afford food on campus.
They're rolling out new food donation points across its stores in Cork City.
Here's the list of participating stores:
- Glanmire
- Blackrock
- Passage West
- Douglas Village
- Grange, Ballyphehane
- Wilton, Elysian
