The funeral of the 87-year-old has taken place in Dublin.
More than 800 people turned out to pay their respects to Joseph Tuohy who died alone in London this summer.
Friends of the Forgotten Irish Emigrants organised the funeral mass for the 87-year-old.
He was taken from his mother at the age of 14 and spent time in St Joseph's industrial school in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary until the age of 16.
When he left St. Joseph's he moved to Waterford, then on to London and never returned to Ireland.
Fr. Denis Kennedy, who celebrated today's funeral mass in St. Joseph's in Glasthule says he could not believe how many people showed up for the funeral:
"The church was packed, there were people standing all around the back and on the sides. Many, many people from Tipperary but there were others from all over Ireland; from Buncrana in Donegal down to Cork and everywhere in between."
