Healthcare workers have been subjected to almost 8,000 verbal assaults over the past five years, according to HSE data.
The data also reveals that more than 180 health professionals suffered sexual assaults.
The total number of assaults rose to 5,409 last year, compared with 4,867 in 2021.
Sinn Fein's health spokesperson, David Cullinane, says the increase in assaults against frontline workers is "deeply concerning".
He said: "Any assault against any frontline healthcare worker, or anyone who is in employment is absolutely unacceptable.
"But to see the level of people who have been assaulted, and these are frontline staff in hospitals, over 30,000 in a number of years is a huge amount of those working on the frontline in hospitals.
"It's a huge amount of assaults so obviously it's deeply concerning."
