The HSE is concerned about the spread of a rare bacterial infection
The HSE is warning that infected children are more likely to spread harmful viruses.
Because of this, they're advising parents to keep children who are showing signs of being unwell at home.
A rare bacterial infection known as Group A Streptococcal is causing concern.
Typical symptoms are:
- Runny or blocked nose
- Mild fever
- Cough
- Or tiredness
Dr. Maureen Boland from the HSE says, "It's important for a child who is sick or unwell with a fever cough or sore throat to stay at home and to be minded at home until these symptoms have finished or cleared.
"Children with these symptoms are much more likely to spread infections."
