Finally, a glimpse of some good news.
A slight fall in house prices points to a calming in the property market.
The latest figures from Daft.ie show a half-a-percent drop in asking prices in the second quarter of the year, compared to the same time last year.
However, the average price of a home on the property listings website is up by 2-point-4 per cent on the first three months of the year, now standing at just under 310-thousand euro.
Economist and author of the Daft.ie report, Ronan Lyons, thinks the slight fall in prices over the past year is due to a slow down in demand from buyers:
"The number of homes for sale on the 13th of June was just over 13,000, that's only slightly above where it was a year ago, about 5% above where it was a year ago."
"Doesn't look like the market is coming back into balance so we're getting used to a new tighter housing market post-Covid."
