Image via Pexels.comFáilte Ireland is to commission independent research looking at the scale of price increases for hotel rooms around major events.
The Tourism Minister revealed the research is to be undertaken in response to allegations of price-gouging within in the sector.
It's after a number of hotels in Dublin put up their prices on the weekend of Taylor Swift's Aviva Stadium concerts next year.
Minister Catherine Martin told the Dáil about the plans this morning:
"I have asked Fáilte Ireland to commission independent research to better understand the potential scale and frequency of any pricing issues based on the best available empirical evidence with recommendations for actions arising as appropriate."
