New figures on homelessness are expected to be released later today, and they are predicted to show an increase in numbers.
As of June, there were 1,770 families in emergency accommodation, which is 182 more than the previous month.
However, it's important to note these figures do not include those who are sleeping rough.
Wayne Stanley, Executive Director of the Simon Communities of Ireland, is closely monitoring the situation:
"When it comes to the homeless figures I think we know month on month we've been seeing increases and we'd expect to see another increase in this month's figures."
"It's nonetheless shocking that we continue to see and reach record numbers of people in homelessness and emergency accommodation each month and we should never get away from our shock and dismay about that."
