It happened on Friday night.
A baby boy in Italy has died after his parents performed a circumcision at their home in Italy.
Italian officials say the five month old was sent to hospital in cardiac arrest on Friday night, but died shortly afterwards.
The BBC report that local authorities in the northern Reggio Emilia province have launched an investigation against the parents.
The baby’s parents are believed to be of Ghanaian origin.
According to health charity, Amsi, about 5,000 circumcisions are performed in Italy each year. However more than a third of those are carried out illegally.
The news comes after a two-year old boy in Rome died after a botched home circumcision in December. He passed away due to severe blood loss but his twin brother survived the procedure thanks to intensive care.
