High to moderate tree pollen levels are forecast across Leinster and Munster today.

Met Éireann says there is a high pollen risk from birch and ash trees.

Most people who suffer from hay fever may have mild symptoms such as sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy eyes.

Dr Dermot Nolan, GP and asthma specialist, has this advice for managing hay fever:

"You need to stay in, particularly early evening time, when the pollen count tends to be high and try to avoid exposure to pollen as much as you can by wearing sunglasses, putting Vasaline around your nose and by avoiding big whacks of pollen counts such as grass cutting, if possible."
