Seven people are also injured
A gunman's shot and killed eight people, and injured seven others, at a busy shopping centre in Texas.
Hundreds were evacuated from the building in a suburb of northern Dallas.
The suspect was seen firing indiscriminately but was shot dead by a police officer who happened to be nearby.
A police officer who just happened to be close-by shot the man dead.
Brian Harvey heads-up the local police force by saying:
"Our officer was on an unrelated call. He heard gunshots, located the shooter, neutralised the threat. We believe at this point the shooter acted alone."
Local congressman Keith Self says it could have been much worse.
The congress man stated, "What we do know is that we owe gratitude to the first responders who ran towards the gunfire and acted swiftly to neutralise the threat".
