' A choice between food and electricity'

News that Bord Gais is set to increase its bills next month has been described as 'insanity'.
The cost of gas is set to go up by 39 per cent and 27 per cent for electricity.
The company is ending its 'winter price pledge' and the changes will take effect from April 15th.
Independent TD Mattie McGrath believes this price increase will have major negative impacts on families.
Deputy McGrath said 'People will get sick in the houses from cold and malnutrition, the wont be able to cook meals , it's a choice of putting food on the table or staying warm'
