Gardai are going to be based in train stations for the first time next month.

This new garda transport hub will open at Heuston on the 5th of May.

The new hub is being opened at Heuston station, with a second likely to follow at Dublin Connolly.

The centres won't have cells according to the Irish Independent, but officers will be on hand to respond to any incidents.

Justice Minister Simon Harris told the paper the move is designed to 'further strengthen' the links between Gardai and public transport operators.
