The survey also found a rise in the littering of PPE gear.
The latest Irish Business Against Litter survey doesn't bode well for Galway residents.
Galway City in particular has lost its 'clean' status and is now 'moderately littered'.
It ranks 24th in terms of cleanliness in a list of forty towns and cities across the country.
Ballybane in particular has been described as 'littered' and is further down the list at 34.

Drogheda is the second most heavily littered town or city in Ireland according to IBAL.
It's not all doom and gloom. Naas is the cleanest with Portlaoise the second-highest of the group.
The likes of Longford and Buncrana also feature in the top ten and are cleaner than most.
Athlone, Ballina, Tullamore, Sligo and Mullingar are all deemed 'clean to European Norms'.
IBAL also found that PPE gear is being dumped at a much higher rate now.
There has been an 80 fold rise in the number of masks being found in streets and public spaces.
