There are calls on the government to address Gaeltacht housing crisis.
There's a call on the government to address the housing crisis in Gaeltacht areas, to ensure the Irish language can continue to flourish.
Conradh na Gaeilge wants Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien to devise a national housing policy, to specifically address depopulation in Irish speaking regions.
Oer 130 groups passed a motion, calling for political parties to action an investment model called An Plean Fáis, at the Ard Fheis this weekend.
General Secretary Julian De Spainn says certain obstacles need to be removed:
"So the most important ones have to do with the housing crisis in the Gaelteacht, and calling on the government to have a comprehensive plan.
"So that essentially that people can live in the Gaeltacht or from the Gaeltacht, to ensure their survival."
The proposal of An Plean Fáis would see 0.4% of government spending allocated to Irish language initiatives.
De Spainn added that adequate funding has always been lacking:
"You'll get from the general population that they are all behind the language.
"They want to see the language and us the language more, but that they find, they cant find those opportunities.
"We need to fund that, we've never really funded the Irish language in the Gaeltacht."
