The GAA is set to defend the online streaming of matches on 'GAA Go' at the Oireachtas Media Committee this afternoon.
In its opening statement, it will say broadcasting every championship match on TV is 'not realistic' and not in the GAA's 'interest'.
RTÉ's head of sport will also defend the decision to air high-profile matches on the pay-per-view service, arguing there's been 'more games than ever to be broadcast' on free to air television.
Member of the Committee Fianna Fáil TD Christopher O'Sullivan says it's denying access to a lot of older people."
"A few weeks ago, high profile matches, matches that there would've been a lot of interest in, weren't broadcast on main channels."
"That caused a lot of upset. A lot of people who are slightly older perhaps who wouldn't have access to streaming or links - I always give the example of my father who still uses his Nokia 3210, it simply wasn't available to him.
"So we need to make sure we continue to look after that demographic of people."
