Fuel prices have fallen to their lowest level in over a year and a half.

The latest survey from the AA shows the average price of petrol across the country is now 1 euro 59 cent per litre, the lowest it's been since September 2021.

The average diesel price is 1 euro 51 cent a litre, 9% lower than March of last year.

However the lower prices are expected to be short-lived.

Global oil prices have risen in recent weeks because of a cut in production, while Government levies on fuel which were scrapped in the aftermath of the war in Ukraine, are set to be phased in again from June.
