Football fans in the UK could see themselves banned from games if they mock tragedies like the Hillsborough disaster and Munich air crash.

The Crown Prosecution Service has updated guidance as part of efforts to tackle this kind of abuse.

It means the singing or chanting of offensive messages about accidents involving players or fans could be considered a public order offence.

The move's being backed by the Football Association, Premier League and English Football League.

Last year, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp condemned those who disrupted a tribute for Hillsborough victims:

Joe Blott, chair of Liverpool Football Club's Supporters' Board says offensive chants have "consequences for survivors and family members of those people have been victims of those disasters", he hopes this move will help to "keep the passion in football but actually to stop the poison".
