The M6 is closed westbound between Junctions 5 and 6, with diversions in place
A pedestrian, a man in his 50's, has died after being hit by a truck on the M6 motorway.
It happened outside Tullamore in County Offaly in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí have launched an investigation following the incident on the M6 westbound between Junctions 5 and 6 at about 4.45 this morning.
His body will be taken to Tullamore Regional Hospital shortly for a post-mortem.
The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, was uninjured.
The M6 is closed westbound between Junctions 5 and 6 while a forensic examination of the scene is carried, with diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
