Famous pub from The Banshees of Inisherin has opened to the public

You never know who you might bump into at the Oscar nominated film location

The famous pub from 'The Banshees of Inisherin' has officially opened in Galway - and even Taylor Swift said she would love to visit the key location of the 2022 film.

JJ Devine's pub, a key location on Achill Island, where the Oscar-nominated movie was filmed, has been relocated and restored in the family-run Mee's Bar in the village of Kilkerrin.

The famous Banshees of Inisherin pub has been rebuilt in County Galway thanks to Luke Mee of Mee's Bar in Kilkerrin!

Co-owner of Mee's Bar, Luke Mee said the pub was in a ruin on Achill Island, which they had rebuilt "in its former glory" at the back of their own pub in Kilkerrin.

Keen to stay true to the film, he said they paused the pub scenes to check they had everything in the right place.

"A few people said is it a replica, but it's not, it's actually the structure from the movie," he said.
